The baby blanket is a feel good story, you should read
As quilters we have all gotten involved in charity projects at one time or another. I know I have. I love to make things, but I also love to give away my creations. Blankets, quilts, scarves or hats are some of the things I have dropped off at shelters over the years. Some I did on my own, and others were through groups I belonged to.
If you too have been involved in charity projects you will enjoy reading this story of one person who received such a donation and how it changed her and her family.

Need help with matching colors?
Do you need help with matching colors when it comes to quilt making? Then Here is a quilting lesson online that will truly benefit you.
How about a virtual color wheel using real photos? This site is so cool. You can select up to 10 colors, and they extract images from the web using your color choices. It is fast and fun! (ok you could waste a bit of time here playing around) But it could also give you a real idea of how your colors will look together in a quilt too.
Take a look at the Multicolor Search Lab and you will see what I mean.
It really is fun, and I think for the color challenged quilter this could be useful. If it exists in nature, it must be right?

Learn how to start a blog
Who knew I was such an expert! LOL
I have been asked to teach a class on how to start a blog. This will be a beginners class, and will be covering many of the features here on Blogger. Since my first blog was done here and I am the most familiar with this service it seemed like the place to start. I will be doing a series of these, which will expand into other blogging sites and social networking which will help get your blog noticed if you want it to.
Here is how it started:
I recently joined a yahoo group called "Learningfa" which is a group dedicated to teaching quilting to its members. Members volunteer to teach various classes from traditional quilting to more advanced techniques like thread painting. Shirley the groups owner, is the one who does the thread painting workshops and they are fantastic!
Any way I joined to expand my knowledge and meet other teachers, or quilters. Well it wasn't long before Shirley asked me to teach. At first I thought about a quilting class, (which is my expertise) but after answering a few questions on blogging for a member or two, Shirley (clever girl that she is)suggested I be the blogging mistress, and teach a class on how to start or work with a blog. Me? I said Well if you know me, I can't say no to many people especially if I think I can be helpful in some way.
Funny, how wanting to help others has gotten me into so much fun or is that trouble?
My love of quilting has lead me to blogging. Since I started blogging, and teaching quilting more and more opportunities are popping up. Like teaching blogging to quilters!
Follow your dream, and see where you go. I now have a pretty successful online quilting classroom website, two blogs and more contacts, friends, and teaching opportunities then I could have ever imagined. {{feeling so happy}}
By the way if you want to take this class there are a few restrictions and requirements you need to follow.
So are you a Quilter? Do you want to expand your knowledge on blogging? Don't wait go now and get in before the door closes. By the way this group is full of great quilting information even if you don't want to learn about blogging.

- You must be a quilter, or fiber artist to join the learningfa yahoo group. No exceptions
- you must join the group first and read the guide lines about membership and follow the rules on taking classes.
- If Shirley excepts you into her group, (and she decides)then you must sign up for the blogging 101 class following her rules, which are posted in the groups files
- And this is the important one, I can only take 100 sign ups, and as of today, there were 52 already! The class was just announced a few days ago, so it won't take long to get that 100! Don't wait if you do the sign ups will close and who knows when we will run it again.

Get control over the Holidays
Holiday crazies getting you up tight? Not to worry. Just get organized!
Make a list of everything you need to to between now and the Holiday. Then prioritize the list in order of what might take the longest, or what needs to be done the earliest. Like decorating may need to be done before baking etc.
When it comes to those gifts you need to make in your sewing/crafting room. Get a list there too! Name and what your making. Estimate the time it will take to get it done, and then put the list in order with the item that takes the longest at the top.
If you can work on these items in other rooms of the house like the living room or kitchen do so. This is a good way to work on projects in between other daily tasks. Like set up an area near the kitchen so that when you are on the phone or cooking and have a few minutes you can get some knitting, crocheting or other small hand work done.
Set up an area in the living room or family room if it is possible so that when you watch t.v or if you have small children you need to supervise, you can also be crafting.
The key is to find ways to incorporate this into the day, so you don't need large blocks of time. Although some projects may require those larger blocks of time in the sewing room, (like quilting), So learn to fit that in too! You may need to ask for help around the house like get the husband to cook once a week, or if you have older children then have them help with the vacuuming or doing the dishes.
With a little planning, and a little organizing you will get it all done and still have time to enjoy the season!

Working on a new blog
I just wanted to let you know that I am not neglecting you or this blog. I just wanted to explain why my postings have been a little slow lately.
The main reason is I am working on a new blog. Online Quilting I will maintain this one as well. I am just trying out the WordPress blog to see if I like the features and layouts better. They offer some nice features that Blogger does not.
Quilting Lessons Online was my first experience with blogging and I have learned so much over the past year. This blog has a lot to offer and I don't know that I want to loose the links, and my readers from here. So for now I will do my best to keep up both. If you what check out my new blog and give me your opinion by leaving a comment, it just may help me decide.
